Olscho Beard Brush
Olscho Shave Brushes are locally handmade using exotic woods, paired with pure badger shave knots.
PRODUCT INFORMATION:
Badger hair has historically been the most popular fill type for shaving brushes — and for good reason. The hairs are particularly soft and absorb hot water while you shave, making them perfect for creating a truly rich and luxurious lather, while also warming your skin.
The Badger is a protected species in North America. As a result, 95% of the badger knots are sourced from China. We add the custom handle to create the Olscho Shaving brushes.
TYPE OF HAIR:
Grey Badger I This is the most common badger hair and is usually dark in colour. They are the firmest and coarsest grade so if you want a brush that is firm, this is the one. Normally the most affordable option as most of the animal is covered in this type of fur.
2 Band Best Badger I These bristles are finer and lighter in colour than Grey Badgers, since they are finer and more densely packed, they will hold more water. They are trimmed to length to provide a more stiff feeling while providing a rich lather and exfoliation.
Silver Tip | Silver Tip bristles are the softest of all badger bristles and are therefore very gentle against the skin. This type of hair has naturally off-white tips and has excellent water retention. They are packed very densely so they tend to have an abundant fluffy look. These only come from a small area around the neck of the badger which is a higher grade product and price point.
TYPE OF WOOD:
Australian Burwood, Ancient Bog Oak, Ebony, Redwood Burlwood, Spalted Maple, Emerald Fusion, Orange Fusion, Nutmeg (gold) Fusion, Cobalt Blue Fusion and Crimson Divine (red) Fusion.
OLSCHO SHAVE CO. TIPS:
Badger Hair has been used by royalty for generations! The hair can range in value, from $80 to as high as $500 plus for a premium design. Knots can range in size from 19mm to 26mm in diameter, which will increase the price of the brush depending on the type of hair.
If you are just starting to experience the wet shave, the Grey Badger Knot is more economical. As you adapt to this style of grooming, you may prefer softer, more premium hair like the Silver Tip. The 2 Band Best is a more popular in-between brush, as it retains softness, holds water well and better exfoliation due to the stiffness of the spine of the hair, creating a better lathering experience.
Better Retention: Badger hair is excellent at absorbing water. This allows you to create a lather much easier. It's simpler to use, allowing you to work your shaving cream quicker.
Better Longevity: If stored correctly, badger shaving brushes will perform and last many years.
