This past weekend, I had the best time attending a 50s/60s dance!

For the past couple months I have been taking a local jive dancing class with my boyfriend and a bunch of our friends. To commemorate the end of the classes, the instructors Lee & Ralph Campbell put together a dance for everyone in the classes, complete with a live band singing rock n’ roll jive songs! We were the youngest in the classes, but we never pass up the chance to get dressed up and dance!

I put together this little inspired outfit similar to what I wore:

  • A polka dot tank that I’ve had forever. (Anything polka dots will do!)
  • Black flats, but I would have loved to have white Keds or a pair of saddle shoes.
  • LQ's Make a Toast skirt!

The Make a Toast skirt is PERFECT for doing twirls and spins! It flared out just right and it make our jive moves still look good, even when we messed up!

My hair was relatively easy. I just rolled one side with a cool curling iron, and flattened it to my head with a lot of bobby pins and hairspray. On the other side, I twisted a small section of hair and pinned it back.

For makeup, I just did my normal routine and added a winged cat eye with liquid eyeliner. To finish it off I added a matte red lipstick.

We had a ball! If you are local, look at Lee’s Fitness Facebook page and check out when she’s holding her next jive session. Lee will be leading a session this Fall at Yellow Dog Studio in North Sydney!
