We are excited to welcome everyone's favourite corner store, George's Country Convenience, to La Quaintrelle!
Now-owner, Karen, grew up in Georges River, and as a child, would frequently visit Haggett’s Dairy with her Nanny. For years she dreamed of owning the store; so when the opportunity came up in 2022 to purchase the business, she felt it essential to honour George’s legacy and continue providing the special experience for her community.
George's is best known for their heaping scoops of ice cream, but if you've visited over the past few years, you've seen that they also carry quite a wide variety of candy and confections. Their signature candy line includes themed boxes and custom mixed bags, combining a blend of old-fashioned candies and new favourites.
This week we had the chance to chat with Karen and help you get to know her and George's a little better!
Tell us a little bit about yourself...
George’s has been a community staple in Georges River for over 60 years. We specialize in serving sweetness, whether it’s a scoop of ice cream or a bagful of tasty candy. Our mission is simple - to bring sweetness to everyone’s life.
What/who inspires you to hit the ground running each morning?
For me, it is all about community and family. Everyday I am motivated by the smiles, stories, and connections we share with everyone who enters our store. Bringing a little sweetness into people’s lives is what keeps us excited.
What is your favourite thing to do, when you're not working?
When I’m not working, you’ll likely find me enjoying our local beaches and sea glass hunting. It’s my little escape to unwind, refresh and get inspired.
