“I've been making them for about 2 years now. It started as a hobby during COVID, and I gave them away as gifts to friends and family, never thinking anyone would want to buy one.”

Oh, but we do, Susanne, we do! We are so incredibly excited to welcome The Shearing Felt Co. to the shop - soaps felted by hand with much love, detail, and care by Susanne in her home in Grand Etang, Cape Breton.

Susanne sources her soaps from Groovy Goat in Ingonish in either Almond or Lavender scents, and then felts them with Ashford’s wool that uses eco-friendly dyes. Each soap is wet felted first, allowed to dry, and then needle felted. After a couple hours of work, the soap is ready to be used, each one ending up being completely one-of-a-kind.

Susanne actually joined us back in April, but the soaps didn’t even last one afternoon they were such a hit! A new batch is now available in the shop, both in-store and online.

Let’s give her a warm welcome! We hope you love them. Which one is your favourite?
