THE HIGHLAND ARTS THEATRE

Highland Arts Theatre, or "The HAT" as it's affectionately called, is the name of a performance venue in downtown Sydney, Nova Scotia, formerly the home of St. Andrew's Church. When the church was decommissioned in 2013, local musician and businessman Kevin Colford stepped up to transform the beloved historical building into a state of the art centre for arts and culture. The venue officially re-opened in June 2014 with an original musical comedy: "The Wakowski Brothers".

While the venue is available for rent and has hosted many of Cape Breton's finest in the fields of music and dance, it is our mandate to create a reliable, professional theatrical presence in downtown Sydney, producing quality productions with a special emphasis on Cape Breton songs and stories.
In June 2016, the HAT became a Professional Member of Theatre Nova Scotia. At the 2016 Sydney and Area Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Business Awards, the Highland Arts Theatre was awarded the Arts & Entertainment Award, the People's Choice for Favourite Arts and Culture Experience, and Artistic Director Wesley J. Colford was awarded the Jack Yazer Young Entrepeneur of the Year.

 NOVA SCOTIA SPIRIT CO.

Located in Pictou County, Nova Scotia Spirit Co. produces local, quality, small batch spirits. Small Town, Small Batches, Tall Tales.

Fisherman’s Helper White Rum is tailored perfectly for the Nova Scotian rum drinker.   It stands up tall in a mixed drink and it’s sweetness allows it to be enjoyed on it’s own.  The rich, sweet oak vanilla notes are attributed to the 2 years it spends in oak barrels in the Caribbean before making it’s way to Pictou County where the barrels are blended, and brought from cask strength to bottle quality – ready to be enjoyed.

In a sea of large spirit producers, this small batch vodka stands out, similar to the rare blue lobsters found off our coastlines.  Blue Lobster Vodka’s 100% grain base lends itself to a slightly sweet, very clean, incredibly neutral flavour profile.  Our vodka’s premium quality comes from sourcing quality ingredients, while creating small batches with great care in Pictou County, Nova Scotia.

Willing To Learn Gin’s floral, herbal characteristics are well balanced by it’s bright citrus presence.  This botanical forward Gin’s flavour and aroma is attributed to juniper, rosemary, licorice root, angelica root, coriander and cardamom. The citrus notes coming from grapefruit, orange and lime offer a crisp refreshing finish. The intense aroma and flavour profile make this over-proofed gin (42.5% ABV.)  versatile to enjoy in cocktails, Martini’s, mixed drinks or on it’s own.
